A friend of mine had overcome her weight battle successfully in about 8 weeks! How? She claims she went with a lot of her own “fresh fruit juicing” and slowly added some small meals. So last week I decided to follow her example and jump-start this new trend. But - DAY ONE - came and went and never started! Every day I really had a different excuse!

1. I was invited to my friend’s engagement party…I had to eat…I felt left out because they were all eating.
2. Next day…I had a diet tuna plate - but to get the bitter taste - “fish smell,” out of my mouth, I had to eat something sweet….as in “ice cream.”
3. After reading about “The kids overseas are starving, so naturally I had to clean my plate.
4. The day after….It was my birthday, so I had to eat my personal birthday cake!….etiquette rules!
5. Then I overheard…..”If you fatten up everyone else around you, then you look thinner!”

And is it true….When you eat with someone else, calories don’t count if you don’t eat more than they do?

I sit and wonder - Am I alone on this or do I have company??

I knew what caused my backache….but why would HE have a Backache?!
It was only a year ago, when we went out for the day - on a shopping spree to the huge “Woodbury Common Mall”…. - in Harriman, NY. After four hours of browsing (and carrying 2 shopping bags of purchases) I felt my back breaking! I told my friends that I need to take a break….and so did they. We sat down and rested until my “back pain” subsided a little.
We continued strolling the mall hoping to accomplish everything on our shopping list. I was almost successful….and had to stop short after another two hours…..due to my stressful pain in my back.
I approached my awaiting husband in the parking lot - where he was in the meantime (enjoying) watching some DVD’s in the car, and I’m complaining about my back breaking in half.
Imagine what his reply was….”and do you have any idea how sore my back feels sitting here almost five hours!”

And I thought he is relaxing!!

“We used to often wander

To places near and far

Now we get backaches

From riding in the car!”

I’ve learned not to complain - to my husband - anymore about a bad hair day.
My husband hates it when I complain about another bad hair day. He says it’s because he’s having another no hair day! Nevertheless, the other day I was trying to fluff here and spray there to manage the latest hairdo. Nothing was going right. I started all over by soaking my head in the sink. (And don’t you hate it when you bend over and your face hits the sink before your hair does? ouch!)

I finally finished the second round of the hair battle, my husband was really getting edgy…”we’ve got to go, darling, ….we’ll be late!” I was in danger of a clinical hair depression, but I realized I will have to act smart now. I had to think of something positive……and …just then, my husband whispered, “Read my lips…Be happy you HAVE your hair….I don’t have any” ….You look perfect!

And that was meaningful….and satisfying to me…

Researchers found that a child laughs 400 times a day on the average, while an adult laughs only 15 times each day. Which is puzzling since laughter feels so good and is so good for us!
Laughter is a natural stress reliever. Have you ever laughed so hard that you doubled over, fell off your chair or spit out your food? It is impossible to maintain muscle tension when you are laughing!
The good news is that you are allowed more than 15 laughs a day! Go ahead and double the dose and make it 30 times today. (You may begin to notice immediate improvement in your relationships!) Then double it again! You are bound to feel better, you will cope with problems more effectively and people will enjoy being around you….

Our guarantee: No bad side effects!!

Latest survey with Doctors, Health-care professionals, and of course with Patients are all finding that laughter may indeed be the best medicine! A good “Dose of Laughter” is extremely beneficial to your body.
Laughing is found to lower blood pressure, reduce stress hormones, and boost immune function by raising levels of infection-fighting T-cells, disease-fighting proteins called Gamma-interferon and B-cells, which produce disease-destroying antibodies. Having that knowledge, Hospitals around the country are incorporating laughter therapy programs into their therapeutic regimens. In some therapy centers “laughing clubs” — in which participants gather in the morning for the sole purpose of “laughing” — are becoming popular! (don’t laugh…it really works!)
Now, when you feel your throat is killing you…and your doctor does diagnose a “Strep Throat”.. (for which needs to be treated by medication)… Do Not sit around giggling and wait for magic to take its place for an antibiotic!

Smile and the world will smile back at you!
