The “Census Bureau Report” revealed that more and more new mothers are returning to the labor force within a year after giving birth. In 1998, nearly 59 percent of new mothers were working, compared to 51 percent in 1988…. and 31 percent in 1976 - the first year the Census Bureau tracked such numbers.
No, not all of those 2.2 million women are working a “40-hour” week job! Many moms return to work with the option of having flexible schedules, telecommuting from home and running home-based businesses. With a tight labor market, more and more businesses are making it attractive for new mothers to return to work.
A report also found that the marital status of “working mothers” are affected — fortunately, for the better! Marital relationships have improved when new mothers take up part time jobs.

Moms, whatever you decision is, have fun!

A recent study at the “Florida State University” showed that…“Nearly two of five bosses don’t keep their word!” The College surveyed more than 700 working people (including men and women)in variety of jobs, asking how their bosses treat them. Overall, only an astonishing 40-45 percent were content with their jobs!!

42 percent of workers said their boss failed to keep promises.
31 percent said their boss gave them the “silent treatment.” (which employees know that it’s a “no” or to their disadvantage)
37 percent said their boss failed to give credit when due.
24 percent said their boss invaded their privacy.

Job Researchers warn that…”Employees stuck in this sort of job tension, and feel they deserve better, Should leave their boss! “No abuse should be taken lightly.”

On a better and different note, 30 percent said they offered additional tasks, such as working longer or on weekends, (tried being nice…and loyal to their company when needed) AND it worked!! They were generally satisfied with their job!!

One group at a large firm told me……“We bypass the boss or supervisor, (whenever we get irritated) and think positive!!…A good working environment, with lots of fun buddies around is often more important!!”

Go Figure This Out!

The next time your boss criticizes you for dozing off in middle of work just show him this article….(link below). A new study found that a midday nap seems to reduce the risk of fatal heart problems. I was amazed to learn that some offices even allow on-the-job naps and there is a firm that actually built a nap room at its Connecticut headquarters. So, on your next job hunt you have another requirement on your list to check out….does the business have a nap room?!?!?

One day last week, my husband returned home from work earlier than me. Instantly, he decided to surprise me, moved in, and got himself comfortable in the kitchen. Well, his true intension was to prepare a delicious dinner! I must say…..He Really Tried….Hard!
Dinner WAS fixed real quickly….and inhaling that aroma upon entering the apartment, was a real treat for me! But….unfortunately, the food wasn’t edible. There were some cooking mistakes he later confessed to. “Oversalted the soup,” “Overcooked the sweet potato” and “Overbaked the rib-steak” ( recipe called for 35 minutes on broil, and he went with 2 hours!)
We women know the problem. Men “don’t” like to Read Recipes, nor follow instructions! (forget about driving or GPS advice!) Sadly, at times, Cooking Mistakes do happen even to the best of us! So next time when your favorite soup is too salty, peel a large white raw potato and add it to the broth.

It took a visit to my doctor and his assistant to put my perspective in the right place. I am from those moms that like to wait in suspense and find out the gender of my unborn child only at birth. I thought that was very exciting in my previous pregnancies and wanted it that way. For some unknown, inconceivable reason, it was different this time around. As the nurse was administering my sonogram, and detecting the vital signs, I blurted out…”Excuse me, I would like to know this time the sex of my child?” My husband stood there openmouthed, shocked at my request but he wasn’t prepared for what came next. The nurse responded “You have to know this momentarily?…now when I am busy checking the water level in the brain and verifying that everything is ok?!?!” She had a patient that just walked out that was unfortunately told the news that all will not be well with their child. I came home pondering, why did it have to take a nurse to teach me what is important in life? I couldn’t help but wonder how many like me there are in this world…..or am I alone and old-fashioned on this? I dare think most of us spend our days taking life for granted. I don’t and respect the unknown….by praying for the utmost importance…..Health of course!

Some of us women prefer wearing high-heeled shoes versus flats. For whatever reason may it be…. taller appearance, confident, comfort, you feel superior, flat feet issues etc. etc., there is good news. You could look elegant and BE comfortable too throughout the day! Many footwear companies offer comfortable and beautiful shoes for day and evening wear. I, for one, cannot wear flats. I am just not comfortable. I love my Stuart Weitzman shoes, and recently purchased a great pair from Naturalizer. (more economical) I also enjoy my Joan & David collection as well my Donald J Pliners……so now I can race up my eight flight of stairs to work (bye bye crowded elevators) with total comfort! ( of course with the exercise benefit on the back of my mind!) You can do it too…..try to find a retailer (link below) for your special comfort fit….and enjoy your day!

Music also soothes overburdened hormones. Studies find music activates parts of the brain that produce happiness — the same parts activated by food or sex. It’s also relaxing.
Spend some quiet time on “Leisure Reading” today! Just go to bed earlier than usual and curl up with a good book!
